Myotherapy
Myotherapy is a focus more than it is a technique that is used to treat injuries. This focus is to help a person recover from injury more completely.
After an injury the body goes through several physiological responses. Our bodies respond to injury by increasing pain and inflamation. This limits range of motion. Lastly, the body adds fibrin and elastin making the area less flexible. This is called an ‘adhesion’.
If left alone adhesions will:
- Not go away on their own
- Often reduce range of motion
- Increase muscle fatigue and stiffness
Myotherapy will reduce this problem even if the injury is many years old.
Injuries treated include:
- Whiplash
- Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
- Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
- Fibromyalgia
- Piriformis Syndrome (false sciatica)
- Tennis and golfers elbow
- Illiotibial (IT) band issues
- Low back pain
- Planter fasciitis
- Shin splints
- Reduction in range of motion
- Tension headaches
